Quality Chicken Feathers for Sale

Ethically sourced, quality feathers from a variety of chicken breeds and colours.

All the birds these feathers have come from have been fed on Organic non-GMO food, and kept in a clean, free range, natural environment. Here they live in comfort in small family groups, akin to they way their wild anscestors would live. Contented chickens grow beautiful feathers, and look after them well, thus they are of the highest quality possible when they are finally moulted or plucked.

Some of these feathers are shed naturally, when the birds moult once a year. Breeding chickens produces a certain amount of surplus cockerals each year. Any surplus birds that cannot be re-homed are culled humanely and with dignity, their meat eaten and their feathers kept, so that nothing goes to waste. The feathers are collected and sorted by hand. Any dirty or badly damaged feathers are discarded.

Some of these feathers are from prize-winning Show Chickens.

Feathers can be used for fishing lures, craftwork, fashion, jewellery and accessories, festive decorations, toys for cats and kittens - almost any use!

*** The Different Types of Feather Available:-

Different types of feather come from different parts of the body of the chicken.

Body Feathers:- The feathers covering the main body of the bird.

Hackle Feathers:- The long, thin and pointed feathers from the neck of the bird.

Wing Primaries/Secondaries:- The long, stiff main flight feathers from the wing of the bird.

Wing Coverts:- The smaller feathers covering the wing of the bird.

Rooster Saddle Feathers:- The long pointed display feathers on the back of and near the tail of the rooster (male chicken).

Rooster Tail Feathers:- The long pointed display feathers of the tail of the rooster (male chicken).

Pheasant Feathers:- Taken from surplus birds which have been shot, and would otherwise have been thrown away.

Different colours and patterns of feather come from different breeds of chicken. The feather colours are all natural, no dye has been used.

*** Order Process:

Once you have ordered through the checkout system, your order will be picked and posted to you. Please allow 7 days for your feathers to arrive.

An invoice will be packed with your feathers, requesting payment by cheque.

UK Postage Rates:- less than 20 bags £1.00; 20 - 50 bags £1.50; 50 to 100 bags £2.70. More than 100 bags = Free Postage.

Environmentally friendly packaging ! Feathers are packaged in strong re-sealable, re-usable plastic bags. The bagged feathers are then placed in a protective envelope ready for posting.

 

Please note: Because some of the feathers have been on the living bird for a year, they may be slightly worn. Dark feathers are subject to fading and white feathers are subject to yellowing, due to exposure to sunlight and British weather conditions.
